Preliminary Task Evaluation

I strongly believe that our film demonstrates continuity editing as it is clear to the viewer how the piece flows, the transition from clip to clip runs smoothly, plus we displayed good understand and execution of the 180 degree rule. We also successfully used a shot reverse shot and 2 match on action, which was part of the criteria but also makes our film look more professional and shows we understand the task which was set.

Using a shot reverse shot, match on action, and the 180 degree was helpful as it helped keep he piece fluid and easy to follow, it also helped outline the story line and made the piece look professional. It also made editing the piece easier as the clips where broken up and easy to move around and change the position of.
I feel that our group worked really well, there were 3 people in our group, we all get along which helped as well. Before we started filming or planning we outlined roles for each other and made sure we spread the work load across the 3 of us evenly. When filming we had a camera women, a director and costume prop person, this worked well as they were all roles we felt comfortable in and suited too.

If we were to film the piece again I would make sure we used a tripod, as some of our shots were shaky and looked un-professional. I would also make sure our actors were better dressed and prepared as they didn’t know what they were doing at some points.
I think we planned our film exceptionally well, we did a story board so we knew what we wanted each shot to look like, we studied the area we were filming in and made sure we knew what angles we liked the most and made sure we were aware of any obstacles that might get in our way. We also had drafted the script a few times so we knew it was exactly how we wanted it.

We didn’t use any transitions in our piece, except for a fade in the music at one point to help it flow well. However we didn’t use any transitions on the clips as we wanted the film to cut from clip to clip as it is an action film and we wanted to keep the viewer on edge by using cut aways. However if we filmed it again we could possibly use fast, action transitions to help add atmosphere to the film.
When we began editing the piece I had very minimal knowledge with regards to the editing software, however now I have successfully edited and exported our film using i-movie I feel a lot more confident with the software and feel like I could do more editing with it.
